Michael Schumacher will be the oldest driver in Formula 1 grid in 2010. Although Schumacher has 41 years of age, Emerson Fittipaldi convinced that German drivers can still win.
After retiring at the end of 2006, Schumacher was going back to the F1 car cockpit this year. Collectors seven world titles it would defend the banner of Mercedes GP.
At the age of 41 years, Schumacher is not just the senior drivers, but it qualifies as a veteran. Imagine, Schumi opponent later is the man in their 20s, like Lewis Hamilton (25 years) or Sebastian Vettel (22).
“If he’s motivated to win, yes, I’m sure he can,” said Fittipaldi, former F1 driver from Brazil, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“He’s physically fit. I know there are a lot of younger drivers, but for the motivation to live, no doubt, he must have competitive,” said Fittipaldi again.
Fittipaldi compares Schumi himself. As an illustration, Fittipalid still active in the race until the age of five approached the head. Done in F1, Fittipaldi many race in America.
“When I race in America after F1, the last victory I achieved when I was 49 years old. And in second place, there was Jacques Villeneuve who was 21 years old,” Fittipaldi said the now 63-year-old.
Fittipaldi thinks, Schumacher chose the right team because Mercedes is a continuation Brawn Grand Prix team which last year featured as the world champion constructors and led Jenson Button became the world champion racing driver.
“It would take two or three races for him to get used to race again at the circuit. It’s not like a test when you’re alone in the circuit. It took two or three races and he’ll enjoy it,” he added.
