Vieira Will Become French Captain, If Only…

The French team captain armband will be falling into the arms of Patrick Vieira in South Africa later. But for the commander of Les Blues, Raymond Domenech gave conditions that seem not easy to be done by Vieira. What are they?
Since the defeat of France in the World Cup final 2006, Vieira who was bringing the task as the successor of captain Zinedine Zidane who had already retired. And it kept going on until France joined the Euro 2008 qualifcation and unfortunately he did not come down even in Switzerland, Austria because of injuries.
Once again a knee injury came to the 33 years old player making the armband changed hands to Thierry Henry during the qualifying playoff World Cup 2010 versus Republic of Ireland. Yes, Vieira rarely fell defending France during their effort to able to go to South Africa.

After the frustration of never having a place in Inter Milan at the beginning of this season, Vieira was borrowed to Manchester City in January’s transfer market with the hope he would have a chance to play more and keep the place in the ‘ the Rooster Team’ squad in this coming June-July.

And in the last two City matches in the English League, Vieira was always playing and dedicate the victory for his new club. It is required by Domenech for Vieira in order to get the captain title.

By playing frequently, Vieira’s condition will be recovered and get back his touch the green field.

Although it seems easy to do especially with the quality and capabilities he has, but with the accumulation of players in the same type as he is, like Nigel De Jong, Gareth Barry or Stephen Ireland, Vieira would not be a primary choice of Roberto Mancini.

“If he continues to play in every match, Patrick Vieira is the captain of French team. And now he began to play again,” said Domenech as reported by Sky Sports.

“I do not doubt the quality he has. And he knows it and we’ve agreed about that because we have been discussing it for a long time. If he continues playing, he will be the captain of the French team. There is no debate anymore about it,” Domenech guarantee of the owner of 108 caps with the French.
